Just conscience. That's the only argument that can work in the end. Atheism preaches acceptance and tolerance of sin, which runs contrary to our deepest desire. Which is for God's rest.
It's right there on the Sermon on the Mount. "Build your foundation upon this stone." Because when the waves tumble over you, you'll be shored up upon the rock, and not be knocked over for having a firm foundation in God's peace. And that peace can only come from a sound conscience. Which there is no peace for a disturbed conscience, and that's what Atheism does, is disrupt your connection to God's peace, and it makes you lose your ability to have love or joy or peace; and in turn, you spread that to everyone else, and choke their love and joy and peace. But the atheist goes one step further, and replaces it with Sin, where a Christian mourns over their lost innocence.
God didn't design you [to love lawlessness]. You were molded that way by your own choices. Naturally, the conscience desires Peace above all things, and when you no longer can touch peace, that is why you're going to hell. Is you no longer have the capability to have love or peace. And that's why there is hell. You can no longer repent, nor desire what's good, or even know it. That's generally how the sheep are getting saved, though, is they're seeing their sins grow in the world around them, and are being alienated by it. So they either corrupt themselves, or find their way back to God.
All the sages in history, knew about Sin. From Pythagoras to Confucius. It's just smarter people understand conscience better than dumber people, and revive the culture back to a restored state, when they establish righteous living again.
As the whole reason there is the concept of Sin is because certain behaviors breed suffering. And the more widespread the behaviors become, the more intense the suffering, and the less capable people are of having peace, love or joy.
And God spoke to Prophets, and wise men, and taught people about it, so they'd have order in their civilization. Like, some may say the entire invention of Law was given by God, through the Patriarchs like Abraham. And that the whole reason there is Law, is because it's divine command.
But, people understand sin. They're born understanding it.
I mean, you can look straight into the Aztecs, how Cortez won over so many allies, because his moral doctrines of Christianity made more sense, and established a better way of living. It's also how so many Native Americans and African Tribes were won over. It's just better... and people understand that on a natural level, when they encounter it. And some people don't, and get worse and worse, and others do, and get better and better. It's all about the conscience drawing you to God. Nothing else. If your conscience is seared, you can't approach God.
Mark 13:51Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. 52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
