The True Condition

The true condition of a man's soul
Is reflected in the music he desires.

If a man is truly joyful,
He will listen to jubilant tunes.
If a man is truly sad, and doleful,
He will listen to somber melodies.
If violently passionate,
His music will have violent passions.
If he is angry, bitter or hateful,
His music will be angry, bitter and resentful.
If a man is in love, his songs
Will be tinged with the melancholy sting of love.
If a man is anxious, he will listen to
Music which resounds with his anxiety.
If a man is rebellious,
His music will be rebellious.

To know the inward heart of man
Listen to their music.
Listen to the melody---
The lyrics betray very little.
Rather, to sing a sad song with joyful lyrics,
The soul is still sad.
To sing of an anxious heart and its bitter loves,
If the song is at peace, so is the heart at rest.

I have listened to many melodies
And they have always imparted 
The true meaning of my soul.
