Dear,
Ben Simmons
Wear your team sweatshirt when you go to your games. You make millions of dollars. I have no issue with you succeeding. I have no issue with you being sensitive. I am, too. I can only imagine being an object of public ridicule. However, Ben, you make more in one year than most of the Basketball Fans will make in a lifetime.
Have a little self respect when you go into a game. Not self esteem. Not pride. Just, respect yourself enough to wear your Nets Jersey at the game, or your team sweatshirt. I wasn't booing you, until I saw you wear a Hockey Jersey to a Basketball game. That signals to me, that you just want to get traded again.
Remember Cleveland hated LeBron when he left---and he came back and won them a championship. I hope to have you back in Philly some time. But, don't throw away your career, and don't get vain and selfish. Don't skip games for booty calls. And remember, you're being paid for something that, frankly, I could never do.
I have no bodily intelligence. I physically can't do what you do. You're in an elite group of people who can be professional athletes. And you live in a country where that's possible. Not many countries can you make a living off of Basketball---or writing. Respect the position you're in, and do it with honor. You're not making minimum wage. You're a professional Basketball player.
Sincerely,
A Fourth Generation Philly Fan
P.S.
And we just wouldn't be Philly Fans if we weren't allowed to call it how we see it.
Mark 13:51Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. 52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
