Territory

The thing that makes humanity a frightening species
And will inevitably be our downfall,
Is that we are very territorial.

I watch my Red Tail shark chase away
The Neon Tetra, and it doesn't allow her to eat.
I then see a lawyer try to sue an AI
Company for transforming different images
Into newer images,
I then think that most of what I wrote
Is probably on The Library of Babel
Somewhere. And that doesn't concern me.
However, Lawyers, with their keen sense of property,
Are seething to outlaw speech.
Russia is invading Ukraine, 
For former allegiances,
And China is threatening Taiwan 
For the same thing.

What's obvious, is that the truth
Is shared across all cultures
But our modern age tries to copyright
Archetypes. The various words
And idiosyncrasies associated
With my writing is mine.
But, if someone wishes to borrow a story I told
Or a plot, or a theme, it's not mine.
It's everyone's.

But, humans are incredibly territorial
Just like the Red Tailed shark,
And I feel that's the concerning part about us
In an age with Nuclear Weapons
And Bio Weapons and Chemical Weapons...
It's that territorial bent on humans,
Trying to claim property that isn't theirs,
While trying to hold onto property that isn't theirs,
And gathering all the resources for themselves...
I do say for those interested in the Sabbath
It was meant to curb these instincts.
