My name is B. K. Neifert. That is my pen name. I have written 23 works and self published them on Amazon.com. These works range from essay, to fiction, to poetry, spanning a 20 year career. But, that is not all I am. Not just poet, philosopher, author, theologian and amateur Pythagoras.
I have worked many odd jobs, including painting rooms, tree trimming, volunteer service at the Food Bank, cleaning, butchering, mowing, landscaping. And what I've learned from all of them, is that I'd rather do something with my mind. As my mind is active, and wanders, and misses the cue to watch for a swinging rope, and doesn't see the white walls well enough in a dark room to know where to paint, and never quite meticulous enough to clean something 'till it sparkles. But, I can look over a geometric proof, and concretely define it. I can write a short story, and essay, and a poem in perfect syllabic meter;---or even a good ode or two, as I've been wont to do that of late.
Not only that, but I am a home chef. I cook delectable Roast Chickens--in a bath of stock from the grocery store, (make sure it's stock and not broth)--with some salt and Bell's Natural Seasoning in the brine. Delicious and buttery, savory flesh that melts, and has an almost egg yolk flavor, and the white meat breaks with a fork. And my Roast Beef is better, with a hint of salted iron like a good beef has. I take time with everything, and believe in strong tradition. Academic traditions are not different; I strongly prefer the Classical Education, and the rich studies of our Western and even Eastern Traditions, over what's new.
I believe in getting the job done, the right way. And learning the anchors and chambers of the body, necessary for success. Oh, I was a white belt in Jung Sim Do, too, and what I took from it was the precise body movements every point of the body needs, to be anchored and deliver the perfect strike. Honed over millennia, to produce accurate body motions, which would increase your punch by 200 psi, and give a kick and arm bar the most chance at success. And also a Hapkido escape, so you can never get grabbed.
Tradition is my strong suit, and tradition hones perfect recipes, perfect postures for sports, perfect form for writing an essay or doing a math problem. And without the tradition, colleges cease to function. They try to reinvent the wheel; they fail. Because the wheel exists, as a perfect instrument for mobility. Innovate a little bit and add to the tradition... but never do away. For humans need strong traditions.
And with that, I am not a Martial Artist, or a Lumberjack, but a scholar. For my mind is sharp, my logic balanced with reality, my language honed with grammar and mathematics, and a little innovative and new. A lover of Forms, but also a lover of what's new. As I think we can integrate what's new, and what's old, and blend a perfect and rich tradition for the future.
Mark 13:51Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. 52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
