Critics Destroy

How many times
I've seen a man sacrifice his creation
To a critic.
How many times I've seen that same man
Diminish his art
At their alter.

Light turns to darkness.
Criticism destroys pure artistic aims---
Except where it compounds
A technical flaw.

Be true to your art.
Do not let the dark hand of another
Taint it.
You either are an artist.
Or you are not.
