The Cycle

Mencius said that civilization is like a cycle.
There are periods which tyrants reign
And silly conversations take place
Because of unrighteousness.

Then, a noble Sage rises up
And strikes a balance by establishing
The traditions of long ago.

What's interesting about Mencius
Is that he was a student of Confucius
And Confucius was a student
Of the ancient kings.

Who were those ancient kings?
Were they not ideations and glorifications of the past?
Yet, from studying those specters
From studying those archetypes
Confucius and Mencius forged a happy civilization.
