My Melodies

Sing, sing songs of wisdom in your heart,
As you walk along the trail of dark,---
Meditate on wisdom's things,
And in the vault above, the angels sing...
Give thanks to God above,
And make a happy melody of
The things of God, so all things impress---
To the LORD, all knowledge invest:
Every word, every deed, everything you've seen
Shall be full of God's wisdom, to forever glean.
Satan calls, "Play games all day!"
As he tries to make you fear the way
To cause you to wander off your path
With idle boasts, so you see he's bad.
Yet, upon the paths of Wisdom pray.
And at the last, when I lie down,
Upon the rock of Christ's thorny crown,
I know, that my best I tried:
On the solid rock I lay down at night:
My bed's a firm foundation stone,
So relief fills my weary bones,
"If I thirst for righteousness, I then shall know,"
And there I rest my heart, to love.
Establish my songs, oh Heaven's King,
My Confessions, My Theses, and my History's things.
For upon Christ's solid Rock I lay,
And I do not fall through the pit's dismay.

Oh, sing, a prophet does not predict futures;
A prophet witnesses and interprets pure:
And on the Law and Nature the Prophet sees
And then he shows it by the strings of reality.
Upon that bedrock is the truth;
Not airy assumptions, but hard proof.
