The Philosopher

There was a philosopher who failed,
And preached, in Christian times,
That God was dead, and virtue
Was simply to make your bed.
Sup, eat, be free... like a rabbit upon the plain.
The wolf chases, and the rabbit runs.
The predator stalks the prey,
And the prey eats the grass.
And the prey, if the predator is stronger
Is their food. Thus, is how the world is.
The philosopher failed, when he saw a horse
Being tamed by its rider.
He threw his hands over the horse,
And cried, "I understand you."
Thus, he became catatonic in his defeat.
Thus, they raised him to a Christlike figure
And said, "See what happens when a man
"Cannot be strong? What the weak will do to him?"

There was a philosopher who failed,
And preached in Antichristian times.
That God was live, and virtue
Was to be charitable and kind.
Sup, eat, but remember, the sheep
In the pen needs shorn, and his nails
Need cut, and he is fed on your love.
Love the little lamb, and life
Will not be so hard. Be gentle
And meek, and pull the milk
From her teats, and drink.
For it is your lamb, your life depends
On her. Be kind, and clean her pen.
The philosopher failed, when the government,
They forbade him to work and create.
Thus, they put him in a dark cell
And said, "See what happens when a man
"Cannot be strong? What we will do to him?"
