Bad Numbers

Don't let anyone fool you.
Nine Million Muslims were killed in Myanmar's genocide.
One hundred and twenty million people were pogromed in China
And another two hundred million the last fifty years.
Twenty million were murdered by Stalin.
Fourteen million souls were killed during the Holocaust.

Right now, it's said only one hundred souls were killed in Myanmar.
That only twenty million starved in China.
And---I guess for political reasons---Stalin's numbers have increased to sixty million.

Please, let's remember the past, so we aren't doomed to repeat its mistakes.

    1. I know, But the official numbers are like in the low hundreds for the genocide in Burma. Literal hundreds. There’s estimated 9,000,000 people who have just disappeared. It’s really bizarre. I got the idea for this poem when watching a liberal vlogger on YouTube, who is advocating the censorship of speech. Ironically, he thought Myanmar was a democracy, which I guess you can call it one if you also can call China or Russia one. But, literally, people are so brainwashed right now that they’re petitioning and picketing to end freedom of speech. That’s what drives most of my writing, is trying to strike a chord rooted in truth.

It’s bad here. It was hopeful for a while that democratic principles were spreading, and people were being liberated, but this vein was awakened after the George Floyd killing where now, people are using Race as a false flag to try and strangle out people’s freedom of speech. They’re even getting support from giant tech firms. It’s looking to me like some form of fascism. I’ve been following it for the past five years now.

Thanks, though. The thing that fries me is that people would even lie about Myanmar like it had any hope of being benign. It’s that kind of thing that sickens me, but people on the left are deluded into believing nothing happened there. I know people from the country who fled to the U.S.. It’s one of the most violent places on earth, if you don’t account for the genocides Isis was perpetrating.

      1. I understand and I know what’s happening. I live in Mumbai and I experience racism on a very subtle level and it’s mostly the educated who do it. Forget freedom of speech. No such thing exists.

      2. It still does in my country. We can say anything we want. And we’ll fight to keep it that way. That’s why we have a Second Amendment. No Cop is going to bust down my door for saying this. And if one ever did, I’d make sure the bloodiest revolution followed.

      3. And that’s just it. No cop will bust down my door. It’s not the government who’s censoring the people. It’s the people who are censoring themselves. And that’s the problem. Under Amendment Nine they’re not allowed to do that.

I really respect you, Yassy. You keep writing. 🙂

        Peace.

      4. P.S. Get your work visa and come here. You’ll love it. We have all four seasons depending one where you live—or if you like deserts, rainforests, ski resorts whatever. You’re obviously educated. That will work to your advantage. If I could have my way everyone would have the benefits I experienced growing up. And seeing people in my country ready to just tear them down, it scares me. I know how blessed we’ve been, but it can all go away with the wrong kinds of attitudes.
