42 New Proverbs

1. My child, listen to a father's wisdom, and to a mother's correction. Honor them with your substance, and your adoration. Look upon them with glistening eyes. They are your glory, and if you make them a shame, so shall your glory be lost.

2. The man did not know his God, for one who taught him, taught the congregation to dishonor their parents. He searched, seeing this as a great orator, and speaker, and he could not understand. Therefore, do not teach, unless you are worthy.

3. For God is not to be mocked: if your parents are accursed, then so shall you be. Therefore, honor them with your love and adoration. Do not mock them, and do not throw dirt upon their face.

4. If your parents are cruel, then bear with it, and love them. Come to them in their old age, and satisfy them with bread. Feed them with the good of your lips, and cherish them, for they fed you before.

5. A father is a blessing from the LORD, and he shall not depart from your service. He shall always be seeking your welfare. If he discipline you, it is so you may have a happy end.

6. A mother, likewise, is a fearful ally. Do not betray her, and do not sharpen your tongue against her. In youth, do not cast her aside, nor despise her, for she is wholly on your side.

7. Wealth and honor come to men who are honorable, and also dishonorable. But, a wise son shall be gladness to his mother and father, and they shall eat satisfied.

8. Yet, if you are a heavy burden upon them, they will sigh, and say "What have our loins brought forth?" And you shall be sad. Therefore, seek wisdom, and add cheer to your mother and father.

9. The wise man is not always rich, and the fool sometimes has a plentiful bounty. The good man is sometimes unmarried, and the adulterer's spouse knows not the sin against them. But, do not become evil for this matter.

10. More bitter than death is a brother offended, therefore, be careful among his wife. Keep a separate place for you and her, and do not come near her all the days of your life.

11. For jealousy can turn to murder, and if you touch the forbidden fruit, you are now given to the curse.

12. Yet, a callous generation makes the victim into the offender, and the offender into the victim. How foolish are they, that they fortify the right of the one who has committed the offense. And they go, and are brazen like a whore, and eat while their mate is poor.

13. A woman can build a household or break it to its foundation. She will be called wise by a foolish world, even when a fool, and even called a fool, when she is wise. That is why there is little joy.

16. Great to be distinguished is the man of eminence, so keep wary at his feasts. Drink a little wine, eat a little dainties, but do not be hoggish, for that will offend him. Yet eat, nonetheless, for abstaining from the feast is also rude behavior.

17. If you fast, break the fast for a wedding feast. And if you are joyful, break the joy for a funeral. For the dead need buried, and the bride needs cheered. 

18. I sought my own proverbs and said, "Woe! I cannot compare!" My deeds do not match my speech, yet they are good meditations. When you read the wise man, know it is to soften your heart, and show you have great distance to travel upon your road.

19. No man is perfect, no not one. We all are fools, even the sages. The scribes are gravestones walked over, and none did see them. Therefore, keep cheer on your countenance, and if bitter sorrows well in your heart, make sure it is because you fight sin.

20. Sin is the god of this world, whom it worships. He is powerful, and can do many wonderous acts. He can even be charitable to an evildoer, and give them sustenance. Yet, consider, their end is destruction, and their fall is great. Sin shall be eaten up by Death, and Death shall be thrown into the pit with it, at the end.

21. There is no hope for a sinner. And he who blasphemes the Spirit---who says to Him, "Depart"---there is no hope. Their joy is perpetual sorrow, and their expectation is hell.

22. All sins can be forgiven a man, except for the Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, speak no word against Him. Who knows?

23. If you consider in your heart that you have blasphemed the Spirit, consider, all those who desire to fear the LORD are listened to, and those who cry out "Abba Father!" have a residual of the Spirit left within them.

24. God wounds His followers, to shake off the evildoers who cannot repent. And He purifies them seven times. Be ready for sorrows, when you begin your journey with the LORD, for He must discipline you, to bring forth good fruit.

25. If you fall, the LORD will not make it utter. He will not cause you to fall so far, that you cannot stand back up. He is the crutch for our atrophied body, and we cannot stand without Him.

26. A sinner's end is a pit of dung, and a wicked man's end is rusted gold.

27. The woman who scorns her husband shall trod in the pig sty with the men she had cursed herself with. Her husband may have an unhappy life, but his end shall be beautiful. She may have a happy life, but her end is sorrows. Save she turn back to the King, and repent in ashes, and regain the softness which she had thrown aside for earthly spoil.

28. There is hope for all mankind, yet those who pursue and persecute the righteous for their righteousness' sake shall be accursed. Once you have done so, there is no confession to be had. You will not take the LORD upon your lips, for you have hated godliness, and have hated it because it is good.

29. Spies seek your fortune, and seek your downfall. Yet, they shall be utterly destroyed.

30. There is a good man with sorrows, and a bad man with pleasure. Yet, a good conscience is cheerful, even when there are sorrows.

31. I had said the day before, "I know not the LORD today, yet I hope it is He of whom it has been written. For I have spied out all the other gods, and see none which do satisfy, and none which are wise. Likewise, I have seen the professing confess a god I do not know. So I stand perplexed,

32. "Is the holy Scripture a lie? Is the true Gospel that we may sin? Do those who seek hard after God, do they become laid in hell, with the sinners? While those who sin willfully are made happy in heaven's courts?" That is the question I ask, when I hear the hypocrite speak.

33. Yet, I consider great sorrows afflicted David, and yet he ran through a troop. His heart was sad, and ready to burst. For he was heartbroken, and it nearly killed him. Yet, he took counsel with the LORD, and grew strong.

34. I sit and often wonder, "Why do they look to their idols to bring them comfort? There are other people afoot and great love abounding if they simply set them aside. Seek face to face other human beings, and cherish them. For loneliness is worse than strife."

35. I loved the LORD graciously, and I kept His name upon my lips. My heart is sore within me, but there shall be a reward if I hold onto Him. The latter rains shall be better than the former. For I shall have pleasure and God's Righteousness.

36. Fearsome is the man who was in prison, and the rats did eat his food, and his garment rotted upon his flesh, and made a loathsome stink. For years he was there in sorrow, but did not lose His confession. He escaped, and then was happy. The burden of so many years of sorrow were lifted, and he was no more ashamed.

37. Such it is, we are held captive to sin for many years, and are in sorrow. If we follow hard after the LORD, He wounds us, and prunes us of our dead branches, and nourishes us with His Word. Stand firm, and push a little further, and you shall be at rest.

38. Wisdom is a beautiful bride, but the LORD had not made His word in vain. It is not to say, "Ignore this," but rather to amaze us in how far we must follow.

39. A dream is merely the reflection of our mind. It is a story in our mind, and a play. If there is flesh, leave it in the dream, for there it may be indulged, and nowhere else.

40. The dream indulges in the flesh, to be a warning against wakeful shame. Therefore, if thou dream it, be not ashamed, but know the sin beforehand, and it shall keep thee from temptation.

41. Dreams are not sinful. If thou dream, thou art not sinning. Put it out of mind in the daytime, and keep no account. It is not prophecy, but merely thy flesh.

42. At the end, I'd rather sin in my dreams, and wake refreshed that I had not sinned, then sin in life, and wish it were all a dream.
